Port originates from Portugal and the country's winemakers boast that 50 varieties of grapes are used in its production. These varieties are grown on the slopes of the River Douro on narrow steps and create a beautiful landscape which is protected by UNESCO.

This wine has the peculiarity that its alcoholic fermentation is interrupted by the addition of alcohol.

There are 5 types of port wine with common characteristics, but at the same time each one has its own characteristics such as chocolate, cinnamon, blackberries. As they mature, they acquire notes of figs, almonds, hazelnuts.

It is an excellent accompaniment to cheeses, meats, chocolates, but of course it is also used in cooking in sauces and fruit desserts.

The Greek equivalent is the black laurel.
