The Indians consider sesame to be the king of seeds and the Chinese consider it to be a source of well-being.

Tahini is a fatty paste made from peeled or unpeeled (whole grain), lightly toasted and ground sesame seeds.

It is a natural product, rich in calcium, protein and natural fibre. It is the basic ingredient of halva. It is eaten throughout the year, but more so during religious fasts, either on its own or mixed with honey.

In the market you can find tahini with cocoa, orange, stevia and many other flavours.

It can be made into a dip (baba ganoush) with roasted eggplant, garlic, lemon juice and olive oil.

It can also be used as a sauce for salads, grilled vegetables, falafel, by mixing tahini, lemon juice, garlic and salt.

Don't forget the tahini smoothie containing tahini, banana, dates, almond milk and cinnamon.
