Leonidio or Tsakonia is located in Arcadia. It is among the 4 regions of Greece that produce quality and famous eggplants.
Due to the quality of the soil and the microclimate of the area, the eggplant grown there has a sweet taste and does not need to be germinated. It is smooth and glossy, with a purple colour and white streaks.
It is widely used in cooking and even in pastry, as it becomes a spoon sweet when it is small.
Since 1996 it has been a product with a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO).
