Indian Rice Basmati in the oven
A bowl full of fluffy basmati rice takes our minds to distant India, filled with the scents of spices in its bustling streets. The word "basmati" in Hindi means aromatic and they are not wrong! Let's try a different Indian basmati rice recipe!

Equipment
- 1 saucepan
- 1 spatula
- 1 piece of aluminium foil
- 1 electric oven
Ingredients
- 1 cup basmati rice
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 170 -180o C2. Wash the rice in a large bowl or colander by changing the water 5-6 times, all you have to do is stir the rice in the water with your hand. Washing it before cooking is necessary to remove the starch. 3. Drain the rice and if you want to have softer rice, let it soak for 15-20 minutes. (optional). 4. Drain the rice and put it in a pot.5. Add 1.5 cups of water.6. Cover the pot with a piece of aluminum foil and close the pot all the way around to keep the steam in the pot.7. Place the lid on the pot and place it in the oven for 30 minutes. 8. Cover the pot and let it sit for 5 minutes, then uncover.9. Carefully stir the rice with a silicone spatula to separate the grains but not to break up the rice. 10. Serve with meat, chicken, lamb and vegetables.
Notes
1.Do not add salt in cooking because we always serve it with cooked food that already has salt.
2.Separate the rice grains very carefully with a fork or spatula, because you want the grains to be close together but not stuck together.
